In a moment of raw pain, we turn to poets and to prophetic voices. Rabbi Michael Feinberg of the Organizing Committee of DSA’s New York City Religion and Socialism Working Group sent the following lines to friends and colleagues after the Pittsburgh shootings on Saturday, October 27, lifting Bertolt Brecht’s poem “To Posterity” as text for our time.

To all the victims of nationalism, racism, antisemitism, xenophobia

This week, and over the past months and years

We mourn them, we remember them,

We dedicate ourselves to working for justice, for dignity, for an inclusive hate-free country, in their name…

Bertolt Brecth, To Posterity
