On September 10, 2025, DSA Religion and Socialism hosted its first Listening Circle. Circles are community spaces that go back centuries— from indigenous council fires to wisdom circles in ancient civilizations. They have served as a way for communities to engage in storytelling, decision making, mutual support, healing, and community connection. The DSA-R&S Listening Circle is based on Healing Circles and it was designed to be a space of bravery, vulnerability, safety, respect, non-judgment, and compassion—where healing and restoration can occur in community. In the face of the struggles we are all engaged in now, we need this kind of community connection to strengthen us and restore ourselves in order to ensure that we will continue the long fight we face for democracy, socialism and a society where all are able to thrive.
